In school it happened that the other girls blamed having their period when they didn't want to take part in physical education. But since I'd rather die than admit to having my period, I preferred blaming everything on having glasses.
It's not as strange as it may sound. I had a certain talent for always having the ball hit my head.
It was with fear I approached the net when we played volleyball.
Anxiety got a tight grip on my legs when we played soccer.
I dribbled the basketball around my knees, as far away from my head as possible.
"Do you have any idea how expensive glasses are!" I said to the teacher. "Of course, I can take the glasses off, but then I will be no good in the team sports."
And to prove my point I walked out on the soccer field and scored a goal for the other team.
